If you want to know how long your re-roofing project will last, it is best to look at the total square footage of the building. A building that is one million square foot will require more work than a house or small office – extra resources!

For most people, a typical roof reroofing will only take two days. The weather permitting, in most cases we can completely reroof a 5,000 square foot building in just two business days.

The reason some roofing companies have so many people working on their site is that they can finish a 5,000-square-foot tear-off project within a single day. It is reasonable to expect that the roofing contractor you hire will be able complete a 5,000-square foot tear off roof project in about two working days.

Contractors who work on large projects use what is called the “phasing”. The contractor will tear off a portion of the roofing each day, instead of removing the whole roof.

In particular, in a project that is phased, the first part of the roofing is torn away each morning. During the day, the same section will then be re-roofed. At the end the day the new water seam is sealed, which marks the area where the project stopped. Work begins the next morning by torning up the freshly installed water seal and moving on to the next roof section.
